Python Hunting In Florida

Python hunting in Florida is an interesting phenomenon and a nessacary activity to preserve the ecosystem of the Everglades. The Burmese Python is a non-native, invasive reptile that sadly is incredibly disruptive to the indigenous wildlife. To curb the issue, Python hunting is legal year-round in Florida in designated areas. Private landowners are encouraged to eliminate pythons discovered on their property. There are also professional python hunters, approximately 100 in the world and, only 15 of them are women! On podcast #32 we talk to python huntress Amy Siewe who, in 2019, packed up her bags and realty business in Chicago and moved to Florida to hunt pythons. With a lifelong passion for snakes, Amy decided to use her passion for good and to protect the environment and, has found creative and amazing ways to use every part of the snakes she catches. Listen in to hear her incredible story.
