When you explore Turner Beach, you will discover a shelling and fishing paradise. It has a rock jetty that projects out into the beautiful, clear water, ideal for fishing. Also a great place for Kayak fishing and swimming but, the currents can be strong so it pays to be cautious.
 
While noted for beautiful sunsets, Turner Beach is also popular for stargazing! If Astrophotography is your thing, Turner Beach provides the best location!

Once you are across the Sanibel Causeway, turn right on to Periwinkle Way until Palm Ridge Road, take a right on Palm Ridge Road and follow Sanibel Captiva Drive all the way down to Turner Beach which is located on the Captiva side of Blind Pass.

Parking And Facilities At Turner Beach


There are 24 general parking spaces, and 2 free handicap spots available. Parking is $5 per hour.

The Santiva General Store is close by and, a couple of good local restaurants. There are restrooms and an outdoor shower.

Beach Rules For Turner Beach


There are just a few simple rules to follow when you set foot on Captiva Island sand.

  1. No live shelling.

  2. A valid Florida fishing license is required to fish. Poles must be attended at all times.

  3. Dogs are NOT allowed on Turner Beach.

  4. Stay off dune vegetation and avoid nesting shore birds and sea turtles.

  5. Recycle and dispose of trash and fishing line properly.

  6. Alcoholic beverages are NOT allowed.

  7. Camp fires are prohibited.

  8. Respect your neighbors and wildlife: Play music at a low volume; no nude sunbathing allowed.

  9. Leave nothing on the beach but your footprints.

Swimming

Swimming is relatively safe at Turner Beach, although the currents can be strong so be cautious.

Shelling

Turner Beach shelling is often called the best the island has to offer because of the many rare shells to be found that are often completely intact. It is best to go after a storm or at low tide.

Wind & Kitesurfing

This is a great place for windsurfing, paddle boarding and kiteboarding. There are several places to rent equipment nearby including YOLO Watersports and Sunny Island Adventures. Both rental places are located on Captiva and therefore are close by to the beach.

Fishing

The fishing is phenomenal at Turner Beach. The unique rock jetty gives any fisher incredible access to the Gulf and therefore a farther-reaching cast. Firstly, you can also fish from either side of Blind Pass Bridge. Secondly, there is the opportunity for kayak and surf fishing. Thirdly, there is also a wide variety of fish including Tarpon, Snook, King Mackerel, Snapper, Grouper and Redfish. What’s not to love!
