Shrimping has been a major industry in the Gulf of Mexico for over a century. Fortunately for us, shrimp boats still make their harbor on Fort Myers Beach to this day.

Visit the Ostego Bay Foundation Marine Science Center. They offer a 3-hour guided “Working Waterfront” tour.
The tour includes an interpretive presentation by a local historian and Florida Master Naturalist. Also featured is a short video by the Southern Shrimp Alliance on how a shrimp boat works. You then get to visit the working waterfront and finish off with a visit to the science center.
The tour is offered every Wednesday morning during season.
Cost is $20.00 per adult and $10.00 for children over six.
