A must-visit spot on Sanibel Island is the Rachel Pierce Art Gallery.
Rachel has a fascinating story about how she came to have an art gallery on the island. The short version is that she was a decades-long TV news anchor. Her last post was as the morning anchor in Fort Myers, Florida. After years of getting up at 1:30 AM to go to work (and 4 kids in the mix), she decided to turn her passion for art into her profession. She opened her gallery on Sanibel in early 2022 and has not looked back!
Her gallery has everything from small souvenirs to large-scale canvas paintings. Rachel seems to paint on anything she can get her hands on, shirts, chairs, hats, bags, shoes, the list goes on and on. Don’t stand still too long in the gallery as you might find yourself being painted. LOL
Rachel still uses her news anchor background to give back to the local community by emceeing local charity events. Don’t be surprised to see her on the stage dressed in a custom-painted “Rachel Pierce” outfit.
