Captiva Island Historical Society
Captiva Island Historical Society (CIHS) is a vital institution in sharing the amazing history of Captiva. CIHS bridges the past and the present. The CIHS gathers, preserves, and interprets the rich history of the island. They provide education and information about the people and events that have made the island what it is today. They have over 14,000 digitally archived documents. The archives include photographs, letters, newspaper articles, and even audio recordings. CIHS also features a self-guided walking tour that covers some key historic landmarks of Captiva. Some of the landmarks include the Captiva Historic Cemetery, Chapel-By-The-Sea, The Mucky Duck, and several more including a few spots on the renowned Andy Rosse Lane.
