We sat down with Jackie Parker, Communications Manager at The Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau, to hear all about the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest!

1. When is the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest?

The Fest runs from September 16-September 25, 2022, and ‘hops’ between three locations: Captiva Island, Downtown Fort Myers & Fort Myers Beach. The specific dates for each location are:
Captiva Island September 16-18, 2022
Downtown Fort Myers September 19-22, 2022
Fort Myers Beach September 23-25, 2022

The Island Hopper Songwriter Fest is an annual music festival event that highlights and showcases some of the most talented staple songwriters as well as up-and-coming writers in country music and many other sub-genres as well. 

A majority of the event is free and attendees can enjoy the music from local restaurants, resorts, and street venues! There are a handful of ticketed performances and events, all of which can be purchased through the Island Hopper app. 

3. Who Will Be At Island Hopper Songwriter Fest?

There will be over 80 artists and songwriters at the festival! This year’s headliner is none other than the amazing Gary Levox, lead singer of Rascal Flatts!

The full lineup is available on both the Island Hopper website and the app as well. There will be a handful of local artists performing, making this a great opportunity to discover new artists in your area!

4. Why Should You Attend Island Hopper?

There are very few opportunities that put singers and songwriters of this magnitude right at your doorstep! The Island Hopper Fest is great fun for attendees and can be a very knowledgeable experience for anyone personally interested in entering the music industry as a writer, artist, or business person! 

Hear unique stories firsthand from the inspiration and origins of some of your favorite country hits! Listen to artists perform their own tracks as well as covers of singles that they’ve personally written.

The festival is truly a one-of-a-kind experience and a must-see for locals and visitors alike!

6. Who Makes Island Hopper Possible?

BMI is one of the festival’s main sponsors and is tasked with bringing singer-songwriters to the festival! BMI is based in Nashville, home to many fresh faces in country music and tons of household names as well!

The proceeds from the Fest are used to benefit Lee County and a portion is used to help improve the community with things like beach and shore restoration.
