The Sanibel Captiva Business Women’s Association (SCBWA) is a non-profit organization that brings together businesswomen from Sanibel and Captiva Islands, Florida.

We were so happy to have Taylor Osborne & Maureen McGauran on the podcast to tell us all about this wonderful organization.

Formally a Sanibel chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), in 2020 they decided to break away from the national chapter to be able to better control where their fundraising could be directed.

SCBWA wants the monies raised to stay in the local area.

SCBWA’s mission is to promote and support local women in business. They provide educational opportunities, networking events, and philanthropic initiatives to benefit the local community

The Sanibel Captiva Business Women’s Association is a diverse group of women from a variety of industries, including hospitality, real estate, retail, and more.

The association’s membership is open to women who own or work in a business on Sanibel and Captiva Islands, as well as those who live in the area and have an interest in supporting local businesswomen.

One of the key ways the SCBWA supports its members is through educational programming.

The association hosts monthly meetings where members can network with one another, share business insights, and learn from guest speakers who are experts in their fields.

Topics covered at these meetings include social media marketing, leadership development, and financial planning, among others.

Make sure you subscribe to the SCBWA Eventbrite page to stay up to date on upcoming events. Also, follow them on their SCBWA’s Instagram & SCBWA’s Facebook pages.

In addition to its monthly meetings, the SCBWA also offers scholarships to women who are pursuing higher education or professional development opportunities.

The association’s scholarship program is open to women who live or work on Sanibel and Captiva Islands, and who are seeking funding for courses, certifications, or degrees that will help them advance their careers.

Sanibel Captiva Business Women’s Association is also dedicated to giving back to the local community.

SCBWA supports several local organizations, including F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva, which provides social services, education, and assistance to local residents in need.

Overall, the Sanibel Captiva Business Women’s Association is a valuable resource for women who are looking to grow their businesses, expand their networks, and give back to the community.

SCBWA is helping to empower women in business and make a positive impact on the Sanibel and Captiva Island communities.
