They have a rich and impressive history and, today, maintain the Sanibel Island shopping headquarters providing everything visitors and residents need! The History Of Bailey’s

The now-iconic and historic Bailey’s General Store, Sanibel Island, was located at Bailey’s Beach Park on a wharf out into the water. It was called the Sanibel Packing Company. It was destroyed in a hurricane in 1926 and a new building was built on land and, in 1992 was moved to the Sanibel Historical Village where it can still be seen today.

Bailey’s moved to its current location in 1966, 3 years after the causeway was built becoming a huge game-changer for the Island. It’s still family-owned by the fourth generation of the Bailey family!
