Building Community and Affordable Housing on Sanibel Island

Today, we had the pleasure of speaking with Nicole McHale, the Executive Director of (CHR) Community Housing & Resources. CHR is a non-profit organization on Sanibel Island dedicated to providing affordable housing for seniors and the local workforce on the island.

Nicole, who has been a prominent figure in the island community for over 30 years, shared her insights, experiences, and plans for the future of CHR and Sanibel.

Nicole’s journey with CHR began as a dedicated volunteer. Over the years, she has contributed to various organizations, from the local school to fundraising initiatives for CHR and other community projects.

Her transition to the role of executive director reflects her deep commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Introduction to CHR and its Mission

Community Housing & Resources (CHR) serves as a crucial lifeline for many individuals and families on Sanibel Island, offering affordable housing options.

Despite losing several units in the storm, CHR remains steadfast in its mission to rebuild and reimagine housing solutions for the community.
