Sanibel Island’s Recreation Center & Pick Preserve

The Sanibel Recreation Center & the Pick Preserve can be found on the Sanibel Captiva Road opposite each other both offering alternative activities from the beach. The rec center is a great facility for fitness and has a good pool. The Pick Preserve is a great nature preserve with short walking trails and a screened-in learning center.

Sanibel Recreation Center

The Sanibel Recreation Center is open to the public and provides a plethora of fitness activities including a swimming pool, exercise classes, weight room, lockers, showers and more. This awesome facility is clean, modern and always has something going on 7 days a week. Tourists and residents alike can take advantage of everything they have to offer as daily, weekly, 6 month and annual memberships are available. You can also get B-Sticker for parking here, allowing you access to more parking on the islands. Ask the center for details.

Pick Preserve

The Pick Preserve is located opposite the Sanibel Recreation Center and is 400 acres of conservation land purchased by the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) in 1995. It is also part of the J.N “Ding” Darling Wildlife Refuge. It is open to the public and free admission. It has a screened-in teaching and learning shelter and has some short walking trails that show Sanibel in its natural state.
