Captiva’s Most Romantic Beach

Alison Hagerup Beach is a breathtaking, wide sandy beach located adjacent to the private South Seas Island Resort. What it lacks in amenities it makes up for in great natural beauty. It’s West facing and an excellent beach to watch the sunset and, there are frequent dolphin sightings. It’s said to be Captiva’s most romantic beach.

Who Was Alison Hagerup?

A remarkable public servant, Alison Hagerup worked for the Captiva Erosion Prevention District for 20 years. She was instrumental in lobbying for beach re-nourishment projects and was known as a strong advocate for the preservation of the beaches. Her work is responsible for much of the Islands’ beauty.  Sadly, she passed away in 2008 yet her spirit lives on through the amazing beaches. Once you leave the beach you can make a stop at the nearby historical Captiva Cemetery to pay your respects to Alison. You can spot her marker which is surrounded by shells placed by her friends and family in her remembrance.
