Sanibel Public Library

The Sanibel Public Library is a beautiful building set back from Dunlop Road. You don’t have to be a resident to join, visitors can sign up and the cost is $10, the membership lasts for a year.  The library is great for kids with a lot of selection plus storytime and craft making. There is a robust schedule of programs on offer and there are e-books, meeting rooms, hotspots, and computers available. You can even borrow a bird-watching kit!

We spoke to Sanibel resident, author, and award-winning historian Betty Anholt and archivist Beth Jarrell both of who are currently on the staff of the amazing Sanibel Public Library.

Beth has been collecting archival pictures of Sanibel and is interested in hearing from anyone who would like to share any pictures they have, especially pre-causeway pictures. Contact the Sanibel Public Library for more details! To check out Captiva history, check out the Captiva Island Historical Society!
