Sanibel’s Dixie Beach Boulevard

Though Dixie Beach Boulevard doesn’t lead you to the beach, it does take you on a serene journey to a quiet, delightful park called Dixie Beach Sanctuary Overlook. It has incredible views of the San Carlos Bay, bike racks, and a place to launch your kayak! Parking is limited to residents only or, visitors with a B-sticker for parking. These can be obtained through the Sanibel Recreation Center.

Dixie Beach Boulevard is a right turn off Periwinkle way, approximately a mile left of the Causeway four-way stop. It’s a great bike ride or a good 3-mile round trip walk with nature preserves on either side. One side is maintained by the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) while the other belongs to the J.N “Ding” Darling Wildlife Refuge. The park leads into Sanibel’s historic Woodring Point, another spot worth exploring.

Directions

When you drive over the Sanibel Causeway turn left on Periwinkle Way at the four-way stop. Follow Periwinkle down to Dixie Beach Boulevard and take a right.
